Educational Program Partners

Educational partners are key to the success of the We Day movement. Free The Children is proud to partner with a number of charitable organizations to expand the reach and impact of We Day more than ever before.

Our program partners commit both time and resources to expand the scope and reach of our educational programming.

OneDropFoundation

The One Drop Foundation is a non-governmental organization created by Cirque de Soleil founder Guy Laliberté. In cooperation with partners like Free The Children, One Drop develops sanitation and clean water projects in developing communities around the world.

The One Drop Foundation also encourages members of those communities to pursue responsible water management habits, ensuring that their families have access to clean, safe water.

MartinAboriginal

EducationInitiative

The Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative (MAEI) was established by former Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2008. The MAEI unites Aboriginal organizations, First Nations schools, public schools, post-secondary institutions and members of the business community to improve elementary and secondary education for Aboriginal students.

The MAEI operates a wide variety of educational projects with the belief that developing knowledge and skills will encourage Aboriginal youth to further their education.

This year, we are partnering with the MAEI to make Aboriginal education the focus of our Local Spotlight campaign and raise awareness about the challenges Canadian Aboriginal youth face when trying to get a fair, quality education. Together we will produce Daily Facts, Issue Backgrounders, lesson plans for elementary and secondary schools and an Awareness Action Guide to shed light on Aboriginal education.

TransCanadaTrail

The Trans Canada Trail is a system of trails being developed that, when finished, will stretch all the way across Canada. The registered charity, TransCanada Trail, is an organization that strives to tell the world about Canada's soon-to-be system of trails. It helps communities start "trail groups" that will maintain the trails in the future. TransCanada Trail also produces the TransCanada Trail BioKit, which contains a wealth of information on Canada's biodiversity as seen along the cross-country trails. Included in the BioKit are fun, interactive activities that will help people, young and old alike, learn more about the Trans Canada Trail and the diverse environments it passes through. BioKits are available for anyone to download or view online for free and can even be used by educators as part of a school lesson.
