Discover your inner leader and take your skills to the next level at the Take Action Leadership Academy. Each summer, Free The Children partners with Me to We to host week-long, social justice-themed summer camps.

Academies are designed to give you the leadership skills, confidence and support you'll need to help lead the We Day movement for global change.

Why Attend a Take Action Academy

At the Take Action Academy you will:

  • Meet other young people who share your interests
  • Learn to think critically about issues and build leadership skills helpful for your future
  • Hear from special guests who share stories about being heroes of social action and engagement
  • Get hands-on volunteer experience to make a real change in the local community
  • Build a connection with facilitators who have collectively travelled to dozens of countries
  • Find your passion and keep it moving, we will support you with a plan of action beyond the end of academy

WhatToExpect

Along with gaining leadership skills, exploring social issues and learning the real benefits of volunteerism and activism, you will create friendships, have some laughs and make memories that last a lifetime. There's also lots of room for fun: dance lessons, soccer games and arts and crafts.

These unique adventures take place in the summer, range in duration from six to seven days, and are hosted in some of the most diverse locations in North America, including Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, New Brunswick and California.
